6th State to Ratify | Ohio | Lindsay Dale Scott
The stripe for Ohio is designed to represent both past and present women standing up for the right to vote.
Both white middle class as well as African American working class and immigrant supporters played a meaningful role in the victory to vote in Ohio. The center of the stripe depicts female crusaders adorned in both armor and the American flag as it is Ohio that the women's "crusade" was initiated. We as women have come so far and yet have so much farther to go. We will not stop standing up for the rights for ourselves and fellow citizens.
