We are here today from the trail that was blazed through history and everything recorded about the 19th Amendment. I honor that.
The Arizona stripe for Her Flag was designed with 3 elements in mind: unite, celebrate, and educate. In the creative process for the Arizona stripe, I thought about those who had a significant role in the ratification, yet we know nothing about them. There must be many unpublished stories out there. To the silent warriors… thank you. I also thought about stigmas that we put on our states through decisions made in the past… break them.
As the contributing artist for Arizona I want to celebrate those willing to move forward. May we be unified in love for the representation of women in our government and women in the arts. As I found a place in a collaborative project to educate and uplift, there is a place for you too. Shine on!
